Don’t forget to select your Primary Care Provider in eBenefits.

You must use your Aetna ID card for insurance purposes in 2025. Your BCBS card will not work as of Jan. 1, 2025.

Employees covered by the State Health Plan (SHP) in 2024 may receive a COBRA notification in the mail, which is required to be distributed by the previous SHP Third Party Administrator, BlueCross/BlueShield of NC, to signify the end of the coverage BCBS managed. Employees do not need to take action, and the notifications do not impact their SHP coverage through the new TPA, Aetna.

Student workers:

  • Hired and reported as part-time variable hour
  • Hours are not to exceed:
    • 29 hours per week for undergraduate students (domestic and permanent residents)
    • 25 hours per week for graduate students (domestic and permanent residents) — Up to 20 hours can be on Graduate Assistantships
    • 20 hours per week for international students
  • If averaging full-time (30+ hours per week) over measurement periods, offered the High Deductible Health Plan

Temporary faculty (FTE calculated – 3 work hours for every credit hour):

  • FTE .75+ (cumulative of all jobs) or measured full-time, offered the High Deductible Health Insurance

Temporary hourly workers (eligibility based on FTE, regardless of duration of appointment)

  • FTE .75+ (cumulative of all jobs) or measured full-time, offered the High Deductible Health Insurance

Temporary salaried workers (regardless of the FTE)

  • Reported as full-time & offered the High Deductible Health Insurance
