Student employee pay rate increase for fall 2023

The minimum wage for student workers increased to $10 an hour effective fall 2023. With the approval of this fiscal year’s state budget, the University can now process pay rate increases for students. Please note, the pay rate changes will not be applied retroactively.

Human Resources’ first priority is to address students earning below the new minimum wage. Those students have been identified, and their new rate will be reflected in their Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, paychecks.

The next priority is to process rate increases for those students in which the department intended for them to receive a rate increase but could not as a result of the pause prior to the passage of the budget.

Student employment coordinators and business officers received more information on the process of requesting pay increases for student employees in an email earlier this week.
