FLSA Overtime Rule

Human resources has been monitoring and preparing for changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) since the Department of Labor (DOL) proposed new overtime rules in August 2023.

The DOL proposed a tow step increase to the overtime salary threshold: $43,888 annually effective July 1, 2024, and $58,656 annually effective January 1, 2025.

On November 15, 2024 a federal district court in Texas vacated the proposed increase to the overtime salary threshold, returning it to $35,568 annually.

Human resources has been consulting with supervisors of impacted employees to review options available related to the proposed increases. At this time, no further action is required by departments and supervisors and impacted employees have been notified.
