Categories: General News

The NC State Health Plan will cover $430 of the Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes program beginning the week of Aug. 10, reducing the cost to $30 (nonrefundable) for eligible members.

Eligible participants include active employees, non‑Medicare retirees and dependents age 18 and older who are enrolled in the NC State Health Plan.

This 12‑month, CDC‑recognized diabetes‑prevention program is developed and implemented by registered dietitian nutritionists who serve as trained lifestyle coaches at NC State University. The program includes 26 hourlong lessons designed to inform, empower and motivate participants to make mindful choices about healthy eating and physical activity to help prevent type 2 diabetes.

New program series begin each month except July, November and December.

The program cost is typically $460, but eligible NC State Health Plan members pay $30 (nonrefundable) with the subsidy. Members may register online and enter the voucher code SHP2026.
